The Society asks a single sum on admission — the Entry Monies — and nothing thereafter. There is no annual subscription.

Entry monies join the Society's invested funds, whose income provides grants to members and their families in old age or need — as it has since 1756.

The annual lecture and the Sir Robert Smith Award, celebrating the history, culture and architecture of the city.
The Society's Keeping
The care of the rolls kept since 1756, the Diplomas, the Preses Chain, the gavel and the bell — the inheritance of the next generation of members.

The £40 Gift That Lasts a Lifetime
Many grandparents enrol their grandchildren under 25, presenting the Society's Diploma at a christening, an eighteenth or a twenty-first birthday — admission to a society older than the United States, for less than the price of dinner.
